Favorite Resorts at WDW

If any of you are planning a trip to Disney World in Florida, I must insist that you stay on property at a Walt Disney World Resort and here is why and where.

1.  They pick you up at the airport and take you to your resort
2.  When you check you baggage at DFW you don't touch it again.  It magically shows up in your room.
3.  They offer extra magic hours to those staying on property. This means that each day one of the parks open1 hour earlier or up to 3 hours after close just for on property guests.  Lines are short and you can enjoy yourself in cooler weather.
4.  They shuttle you from your hotel to any park.
5.  The resorts are themed beyond anything you could image.

I could go on but I will now give you some of my favorite resorts.

1.  The Beach Club Resort:  Is resembles a New England Seaside with pastel tones and beach front. It has a 3 acre pool with a 150 foot water slide. It is also connected to Epcot, where you can slip in thru the back of Epcot rather than the main entrance with all the line.

2.  The Animal Kingdom Lodge:  A truly unique Deluxe resort experience.  You're in the midst of an African wildlife preserve surrounded by free roaming animals that get breathtakingly close to the resort.

3.  The Grand Floridian:  Disney's finest resort.  Luxury is in abundance, from its lavish decor to the tastefully appointed guestrooms. Your every wish can be fulfilled, from dinning to a spa.
There is a full range of swimming complexes with Magic Kingdom as your backdrop.  Although you wont want to leave your room, the monorail is right outside your door to transport you to the parks when you are ready.

Why the Blog/Why the Title

I created this blog many years ago. I called it "When East Meets West" because I am from the West (America) married to a man from the East (Korea).  I started it to vent about out cultural differences (the funny ones and not the sad ones) when they met (ah clashed) but it was not as therapeutic as I thought, so I deleted the posts and am using it for my class but could not figure out how to change the title.  I now crave kimchi, no longer wear my shoes in the house, and unknownly bow to every elderly Asian person I come in contact with.

Now I will use it for this class and post some of my favorite/not so favorite things.  And, if any of those funny cultural differences come up along they way, I will share.

Favorite Kitchen Tools

Blending:  Vitamix....This thing has some awesome power and a good guarantee.  You can make ice cream, the smoothest of smoothies, even fresh peanut butter.  It does it all and QVC is offering a special for it right now.  Don't miss out.

Favorites Place to Eat

Seafood:  The Boiling Crab

OMG, this place is the bomb.  You order your seafood, add a few vegetables (corn on the cob and new potatoes) and your seasonings and it comes to you in a plastic bag, steaming hot.  We get the all shebang mild.  It comes with chucks of cooked garlic.  Perhaps not the best place for a date.

Italian:  Amore

This is the best Italian restaurant I know.  They serve fresh yeast bread with a side of balsamic vinegar and olive oil and they have this stuffed mushroom appetizer that is to die for.

Korean:  Seoul Garden

Well, I am married to a Korean, after all.  They have the best marinated kalbi (thinly sliced, bone-in ribs) with a sweet and savory marinade.

CoffeeShop:  Cafe Bene

I believe it is a franchise out of Korea.  I take cream and sweetner with  my coffee but their latte is so good it needs neither.  That says a lot.

Happy eating!

Favorites Web Sites

I am currently addicted to the following web sites:

http://www.consignofthetimes.com/consignofthetimes.asp
a on-line, high-end designer resale shop based in Miami, Florid selling shoes and handbags.  I never buy because it's not a drastic discount so I might as well fork out the extra dough and just buy it brand new which I  never do either.  But, I love looking.

http://pinterest.com/
a seen from an earlier post, this web site has anything you could imagine.  Recipes, funny quotes, decorating ideas, DIY ideas, fashion tips, hair cuts, and colors.  the list is endless

http://www.mychicnscratch.com/
this site is for paper crafting.  This lady is a Stampin Up independent sales consultant.  I love her stuff and you will not believe the money she makes doing this.

I've you've never heard of these sites, please take a look and maybe you will enjoy them too.

Not So Favorite Fraud Report: Taking Suggestions

Fraud is all I have been dealing with these days.  Not committing it but identifying it.  I work for the local utility company in Credit and Collections and I pull BI data using proc sql in SAS and one report that got assigned to me was to query all energy customers committing Fraud.  Really?  It would not be so bad if I was given the requirements and all I had to do was pull the right data, but I have to come up with the logic to pull a solid list.  What distinguishes a bad paying customer from one that is committing fraud? They both move out and move back in often, they don't pay, and they do what they can to prolong service.

One area of fraud we are dealing with is a known group of people who upon notice of disconnection will transfer their service to another premise (someone they know who is also up for disconnect of non payment).  They aren't really moving they just transfer out of their account and have someone transfer into theirs and they never get disconnected because a disconnection will not go out if a transfer order is pending.   This little circuit happened between 120 different locations just virtually rotating their service racking up a total of 9k per month on all premises.

Any suggestions on how to query for this dataset for the masses?
